Attempted theft from Motor vehicles/Suspicious activity

We continue to receive reports of individuals acting suspiciously around motor vehicles during the night on the Brizlincote Estate and surrounding areas.

Whilst not all reports result in offences being identified, these incidents serve as a timely reminder for residents to take simple precautions to help protect their vehicles and property.

Please help reduce the opportunity for crime by:

Ensuring your vehicle is locked and secure whenever it is unattended.

Removing all valuables from your vehicle overnight, including bags, wallets, mobile phones, laptops, tools and other items that may attract thieves.

Avoid leaving property on display, even if it appears to have little value.

Checking that windows, sunroofs and doors are fully closed and locked before leaving your vehicle.

Parking in a well-lit area where possible.

Keeping vehicle keys securely inside your home and out of sight, away from doors, windows and letterboxes.

If your vehicle has keyless entry, consider using a signal-blocking pouch (Faraday pouch) to help prevent keyless vehicle theft.

Criminals often target vehicles they believe contain valuables or where opportunities exist to gain entry quickly and quietly. Taking a few moments to secure your vehicle and remove belongings can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.

Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, particularly persons seen checking vehicle door handles, looking into vehicles, or behaving unusually around parked cars, by calling 101 or reporting online. If a crime is in progress or there is an immediate threat to life or property, always call 999.

Thank you for your continued support in helping to keep the Brizlincote Estate and surrounding communities safe.
